On Cloud Nine and Riding High!

July 15, 2010

Hi gals! I guess the title of this post comes the closest to how I have been feeling for the past 12 hours.

You may remember a few months ago, I sent in my Associate Level exams (the second of four levels) to the Parchment Craft Guild. Well, last night after a long day at work, I found out that I PASSED!

I don’t think there are enough words in the dictionary to describe how thrilled I feel right now.

I am also feeling just a little bit relieved. It was important to me to pass, and maybe dazzle the judges a bit?!

There was also a difference in how I approached the Associate exams from how I approached the Affiliate exams, so the wait to know if I passed or not felt quite a bit longer this time around. In reality, the time it took to find out was about the same.

I am truly excited to see what my actual scores are, and to read the comments from the judges (okay  postal system, you need to hurry up here). I know I found the judges comments to be quite helpful on the first set of exams. They really take the time to give constructive criticism as well as hints and tips to improve on specific techniques.

The featured photo (I really like being able to feature an image in my posts now) is a scan of just one of the pieces I submitted. And yes, the oval was purposely offset, just to be a little bit different, an attempt to set myself apart from everyone else, sort of thing. In all honesty, it took me forever to get that offset just right! Centering something is “easy peasy” creating the right offset takes time.

Now I need to set myself to work so that I can pass the next set of exams, the Graduate Level, realizing there is a huge leap in proficiency in the various techniques.

I hope you all have a marvelous day! Thanks for dropping by.

Well done Chiara – I am sure you are chuffed. One of my ex-students Lynn Burbidge was successful in her first level exam, so you must be sharing that Cloud Nine – is it crowded up there???

Congratulations my friend, I really mean that! Karen xxx
