Milestone!

August 8, 2010

Wow! You gals are awesome!

I know I haven’t been around very much lately. I’ve been hard at work practicing my painting. Painting with inks, felt tips and pinturas (acrylic paints). And I’ve been working very hard at my brush strokes, trying to get nice tiny thin lines.

This is an example of my practicing brush strokes with pinturas.

I still have a ways to go to be better.

Meanwhile, while I have been hard at work practicing, you gals have helped me reach a big milestone in the “blogging world.”  We’ve now passed 50,000 “hits” on the blog!

You gals are the greatest! Thank you so much, you all deserve a big pat on the back! And I hope you come back for more.

Wowzers Chiara, when I grow up, I want to paint like you!!!! Seriously girl, these are stunners! You’re making me want to get my paints out and play. I leave for Nashville on the 20th and will be gone for 4/5 days. Can you believe I’m taking Stephen back already!! Daniel heads back to school on the 18th. I’ll have lots of time on my hands and probably feeling those terrible “empty nest” feelings . . . LOL! I’ll have to pull out my toys and start “playing” again.

Thank you so much for sharing, these paintings are incredibly beautiful! Hugs, Jerri

Jerri, honestly they are practice pieces!
I will have to pull out my calendar and see what I have going on — perhaps, if you have the time, we can get together while you are in Nashville?

A big hello Chiara from hot and sticky Spain – wow, wow and wow again – these little birds are absolutely fabulous – just exquisite – it is so much more difficult to get these fine lines with any mediums other than pencils, but you have managed `magic` – sheer, un adulterated magic!!! – If these are practice pieces, I am 100% sure that your finished pieces cannot be any better – well done you –
I am so sorry that I havn`t been around much lately – I couldn`t get through on the number you gave me, and also had an afterthought that I don`t have a webcam either – I am thinking of getting one, so when I do will let you know – I havn`t had time to be on FB for a while either, but must make the effort to go in and catch up with my friends, and on all the lovely work coming through as well –
Congratulations on hitting over the 50,000 with your blog – well done you – how far you have come Chiara from the days when we were baby parchers together!!! – I am so very proud of you – well done!!
I am, as you know, doing my Tutor Course with Karen Shaw (hence having no time-lol) – I had no idea it was such an extensive course, and have been told I have chosen the most difficult course out there – but at the end of the day, at least I know that when I eventually get my Diploma, it will be to teach work of a very high standard – and that`s what we want to keep this beautiful craft as beautiful as it is, isn`t it? I have to do a little bird for one of my colouring section pieces, and am going to do this/these little birds as my piece (just before I left Parchmentlove Loes very kindly sent us all a little bird painting lesson, step-by-step, very similar to yours, and I knew then that`s what I was going to do – I have to do it with pencils, but I`m sure I can convert the pinturas to polychromos – all thre other ladies on the course are doing the `browns` etc, but I just love the colours of these little darlings -so wish me luck!!
Anyway, yours are truly beautiful, and if I can do them even half as well, I`m sure it will be a pass-lol – I love your blog even though I don`t always have time to reply – but I always read it, and think it`s super –
Will chat again asap Chiara – have quite a few other friends to try to catch up on as well, so – till then, keep up the good work – you are such an inspiration to us all !! Love and hugs, Katy xx

Hiya Katy. Sorry about that, I didn’t think that number would work. We can still talk via Skype without the webcam.
These birds are from Loes’ lesson. I’m working on Robyn Cockburn’s macaw using Loes’ lesson. Will see how it comes out or if I have to “bin it”!

Really beautiful Chiara! You inspire me to go practice myself. This is hard work and you have done a great job. The colours are just delightful and luminous too! I’m working on a design by Kanny at the moment using side-loading for shading, but I think I’ll just have to try something more challenging lke this when I’m done. Wonderful.

Robyn, I’m really surprised at how much I’m enjoying using the pinturas. And you get that beautiful bright glossy look when it’s all done and embossed. you’ll have to “come play” with me…would love to see what you do with the pinturas.
